Update
12/25/07
ADEM-Conway
is now off the air, the Packet Node Stack, JNOS, Packet BBS and Winlink PMBO
are offline for the move to the new ADEM located on Camp Robinson. The move
was planned so that we would we would have the new station ready when the
old one went offline. Another great plan that didn't work out as expected.
There is a portable HF/VHF/UHF voice setup at the new ADEM ready if its
needed until we get the new station online there. For those using Airmail,
please use the ADEM Alternate PMBO AD5OH at the Ar Dept. of Health in Little
Rock.
The
towers and equipment have been sent out for bid so hopefully it will not be
long before the new ADEM station is online.
There
maybe a return of one or more of the packet nodes at Conway, some of the
local hams there have expressed an interest in getting a node going. That
would help take care of a gap in the network from the old node stack not
being there.
Update
09/07/07
Went to
ADEM and worked out the tower sites and options we have there. Also
discussed equipment and turned in a list. The plan is to have a turn key
system installed ready to operate when finished. JM N5XFW and Mike KB5WBH
were there discussing the plans with the folks at ADEM. The time frame is by
the end of this year to be completed but it will be sooner than that.
Also, an
alternate PMBO for Arkansas has been installed. Its located at the Arkansas
Dept of Health. Operating as AD5OH, it is only on HF and is on 3593.00 and
7101.4 and accepts PI, PII and PIII Pactor modes. The telnet info is:

Update 04/22/07
Soon we
will be moving to the new Ar State EOC on Camp Robinson just north of Little
Rock, Ar. We still need to go to the site to pick the placement of the 3
towers we will be using. All new equipment for the ADEM RACES Station
is in the works. Our RACES station will be in the main communications center
at the new EOC. We are also working on a new club call for the station. The
present callsign W5AUU belongs to the Faulkner County Amateur Radio Club in
Conway. We appreciate the use of the callsign W5AUU over the years.
Update
02/23/07
W5AUU is
now back on 80m operating Pactor I, II and III on 3594.00 . It is also still
on these frequencies: 7068.90 PI and
PII only,
7101.20 PI, PII and PIII , 10146.20 PI, PII and PIII.
Update
11/28/06
W5AUU's
Winlink PMBO Pactor frequencies are now listed on the main RACES page in the
Operating Frequencies section. An 80m Pactor I and Pactor II frequency will
be added at a later time.
Update
02/25/06
W5AUU operated during
the CUSEC Earthquake drill. We made several contacts with neighboring
states. One station sent traffic via HF to the W5AUU Winlink PMBO on 40m.
02/08/06
W5AUU
ADEM RACES operated during the CSEPP Exercise. We were activated at 9am and
closed operations at 1:30pm. We had 6 operators at W5AUU and had
contact with Lincoln Co., Jefferson Co., Pulaski Co. and Saline Co. Thanks
to all the Amateur Radio Operators that took part in this drill.
01/16/06
W5AUU ADEM RACES will
operate during the CSEPP Exercise on Feb 8, 2006. W5AUU will also operate
during the CUSEC Earthquake Exercise on Feb 25, 2006. The CUSEC exercise is
a state EOC to state EOC communications test.
09/17/05
W5AUU took part in the
CUSEC Earthquake Exercise. We were able to check in with W9SEM at the
Indiana State OES Office on 40m.
03/11/05
Paclink AGW was
installed on a pc on ADEM's LAN to allow seamless email passing via ham
radio when the normal internet connections fail. This uses 9600 baud on 2m,
144.950mhz. That is one of the high speed ports on the W5AUU Winlink PMBO.
11/17/04
ADEM RACES was activated
from Nov 17th-18th, 2004 during the Clinton Library opening.
Everything went very well.
10/28/04
The W5AUU Winlink PMBO
is now operational on HF using the following frequencies: 3626.90 , 7068.90
, 7101.20 , 10146.20 The actual dial frequency on your HF radio will vary
with the TNC you are using. Putting the frequency in Airmail will tell you
the right frequency to set your HF radio by. The VHF side
is on and can be reached by connecting to the APN node ARLINK then
connecting to W5AUU. All of the TelPac nodes in Arkansas are
set to connect to W5AUU. When installing a new TelPac node contact Mike
KB5WBH or J.M. N5XFW for the IP information that needs to be entered within
the TelPac setup.

Message Handling
information that ADEM uses. When sending packet traffic or email to W5AUU
using the Winlink System please use these standards. It will help Emergency
Traffic get to the right person at ADEM quicker. These could also be used
for HF voice as well.
09/18/04
During the SET we will be checking on HF for email sent
to W5AUU through the TelPac nodes. For that purpose, the email address is
w5auu@winlink.org
We can also meet anyone on HF if they want to pass traffic direct, contact
W5AUU on the Razorback nets during the SET (7.260 or 3.987.5) to make
arrangements.
09/4/04
Through the grant system J.M. Rowe has given ADEM RACES a SCS PCT Pro II pactor modem to beef up
communications statewide. With this modem we will be able to take part in
the WinLink2000 HF email system. When the system is set in place we be able
to communicate with Pactor I, II and III modes. All pactor modes are
welcome. Compatible tnc models are SCS, Kantronics and the TimeWave
models. When buying equipment for this be sure the model you are looking at
will do Pactor. Visit
www.winlink.org
for more details on the WinLink2000 system.
